Where did you get the idea for Sixth of the Dusk?

I love Hawaiian and Polynesian culture, and it was basically me reading some stories about Kamehameha, and his unification of the islands, and all this stuff, and I’m like, “Ah, I’ve got to use this someday.” It was years later before I got to use it, but I did find a time to use it.
