Because I knew I was doing this whole Cosmere thing, I wanted to make it fairly easyto start speaking other languages. I built the idea of Connection into the various magic systems. It’s one of the easiest things to get going, like you see in the Wax and Wayne Mistborn books.
Some worldhoppers just learn the language. It does happen. But for instance, Hoid doesn’t learning the different languages, which is why you see him making goofs like saying coin instead of sphere. There’s not really a word for coin, but the magic is trying to interpret, and it just comes out as a word that’s not in their language. You’ll frequently see worldhoppers making those mistakes, using words like dirt and coin and stuff like that. It’s kind of a clue that they’re using magical means.
