Will You Read Something That I Wrote & Critique It For Me?

Brandon’s assistant Karen here. We know that writing and publishing novels is hard work, so we congratulate you on your accomplishment. As you might imagine, we receive a large number of blurb and critique requests, which makes reading and following up on them quite difficult. Reading and commenting requires the same brain space as writing stories, so this is just not something Brandon can do a lot of without negatively impacting his ability to work on his own books. As a result, we’ve had to become much stricter on what he blurbs.

For both legal and practical reasons, Brandon cannot read and review manuscripts sent directly to us. You (or preferably your agent or publisher) will need to go through his agent Valentina Sainato ([email protected]) to request a possible jacket quote.

Brandon does have plenty of general writing advice here on the FAQ, and on his Writing Excuses podcast (https://writingexcuses.com/). A few students each year also get into the workshop section of his BYU college class where he will read and comment on their work.

We wish you luck in all your writing endeavors

-Karen Ahlstrom
